Ametrine is, in my opinion, a much overlooked crystal. A combination of both amethyst and citrine, these energies unite to create a fascinating stone to work with.
It is also known as Bolivianite, for the fact that the majority of 'pure' Ametrine in the world today is mined from Bolivia. It is formed when tiny iron particles locked inside the matrix of the quartz crystals begin to oxidize at different rates. This is often due to the difference of temperature between the amethyst and the citrine. As applying different heat to stones is something which can be easily imitated in a lab, a lot of Ametrine is now synthetically made. However, that does not make it any less potent as a crystal, providing that it is actually made out of quartz as opposed to coloured glass (so best to do your research before you purchase any).
Like the amethyst, ametrine can help to relieve stress and calm worried minds. The addition of the citrine energies brings joy, clarity and motivation. As such, it is a fantastic crystal to carry with you if you have a difficult situation you need to face, or a challenging situation you need to work your way through. It soothes, yet uplifts in a subtle, natural way. I find that amethyst, whilst good at calming the mind, is quite a meditative crystal. Citrine is great as an uplifter, but is quite an energetic crystal. Ametrine then brings these two qualities into balance, and is great for those who maybe have an introverted streak to them to help them handle social situations more easily - or maybe extroverts to help them chill out in social situations!

In general, it is a good stone for helping encourage harmonious relationships, whether those are friendships, family relationships, partners, or even business relationships.
Ametrine is also a great crystal for encouraging action. Again, it harnesses the part of citrine that makes it a great stone to encourage you to tackle what you are putting off, with the clarity of the amethyst. As such, it can help those who are having difficulties making decisions to finally make them. I have used Ametrine successfully before in spellwork to help encourage a decision in situations where I've been waiting for an answer from someone on something critical, but they were being less than forthcoming.
It is a stone of balance, both mentally and emotionally, and can help soothe negative emotions and bring peace. It will help not only you to accept yourself as you are, but to let go of prejudice, and let others into your heart. As such, it is a great stone for those who feel disconnected from others, or who maybe struggle to deal with their own emotions. If you feel like you are lacking in confidence, Ametrine can give you the quiet confidence you need.
Ametrine is also a great stone for those undertaking creative endeavours, as encourages finding your own artistic expression, and brings you the motivation to follow it. Known as a bit of a problem solver, it is not just in the creative arts that this association can be beneficial; incorporating it into business endeavours can help ensure positive communications, and well considered resolutions to any issues being faced.
If you work with the chakras, then it is great for helping to stimulate the solar plexus, the third eye, and the crown chakras.
