Herbs A - F

Acorn: The acorn is associated with protection, wisdom, luck, and prosperity.


Aloe: The gel of the aloe plant is very soothing and is often used to treat insect bites, burns, and other skin ailments. It is also associated with beauty, the moon, femininity, the element of water, and health. It is also said to have the ability to absorb negativity.


Angelica:
Angelica is primarily associated with protection, banishing, and breaking curses and hexes. It is also associated with divination, prosperity, and luck.


Bay Leaf: Bay is associated with protection, luck, removing negativity, success, and intuition. A common practice is to write wishes on bay leaves and burn them to ensure your wish comes true.


Basil: Basil is associated with love, luck, and the removal of and protection against negativity.


Bergamot: Bergamot is associated with money and prosperity, memory, and sleep. It is also said to have the ability to protect from negativity and illness.


Belladonna: Belladonna is a highly toxic plant, so never ingest it. In fact, it is quite difficult to get hold of in plant form, and you will most often only find the seeds or oils for sale so be careful if you decide to use it. Bladderwrack: A type of seaweed, bladderwrack is associated with beauty, water magick, and abundance. For more information on the properties of bladderwrack, click here:

luebell: The bluebell is associated with friendship, luck, truth, and can bring comfort after the death of someone close to you.


Butterbur: Butterbur is associated with divination around matters of love, as well as hope and faith and the restoration of such.


Calendula: Candula is often used in salves and such as it is said to be good for the skin. It is also associated with protection, strength, and justice.


Camphor: Associated with dreams, intuition, divination, and purification.


Caraway: Caraway is associated with mental faculties, especially the memory. It is also associated with protection, specifically against theft. Other attributions include love, passion, and health matters.


Carnation: The carnation is associated with protection and strength. It is said to aid in increasting our magickal abilities as well as promoting healing, finding balance, and encouraging creativity.


Catnip: Associated with love, beauty, and unsurprisingly cat magick.


Chamomile: Chamomile is often used in tea as it is a herb which brings peace, reduces stress and can aid in sleep. It is also associated with love, healing, and abundance.


Chickweed: Chickweed is associated with love and fertility.


Chicory: Helps promote positivity and optimism. Is also said to be associated with removing obstacles and obtaining favours from others.


Chili Powder: Chili powder is great for giving any magickal working a boost or to help speed things up. It is also said to be associated with love, fidelity, and curse breaking.


Chives: Chives are associated with protection.


Cilantro: Associated with bringing peace. I've see it referred to as the 'protector of gardeners'.


Cinnamon: Cinnamon is associated with success, protection, power, luck, love, and prosperity. Be warned if you are using cinnamon oil though - it absolutely needs diluting if you plan on using it on the skin!


Cinquefoil: A bit of an all-purpose herb, it is said that the five points of the flower represent money, health, love, power, and wisdom. It is also said to be good for protection and repelling negativity, promoting prosperity, making us more persuassive, stimulates the memory, and can also be used to enhance divination.


Citronella: Citronella is great for repelling insects. Otherwise, it is associated with creativity and clarity. It can help draw things towards us and is great to use to encourage new relationships, customers, opportunities, etc. It is said to protect and cleanse the aura.


Clover: Associated with luck and success (think of the four leafed clover).


Cloves: Cloves are associated with protection, money, love, and removing negativity.


Comfrey: Associated with stability, endurance, safe travel, and property or real estate.



Daffodil: Daffodils can be used to encourage joy and happiness and keep negativity away. The are also associated with love, luck, and fertility.


Daisy: The daisy is associated with love, innocense, feminine energies, and babies/young children.

Dill: Associsted with money and prosperity, as well as protection, luck, and lust.


Dragon's Blood: Associated with protection, purification, and power.


Eucalyptus: Eucalyptus is very soothing and is often used in healing, such as in salves to apply to bites or added to hot water and the steam inhaled to help ease a sore throat. It is also associated with purification.


Fennel Seeds: Quite masculine in energy, they are associated with strength, virility, and vitality. Also associated with protection, and purification.


Fenugreek Seeds: Associated with money and fertility.


Fern: The fern is associated with the element of water, clarity, cleansing, purification, and dispelling negativity.


Feverfew: Feverfew: Feverfew is said to help aid against colds and the flu and minor accidents. Otherwise it can be used in spells concerned with love or spiritual health and healing.


Forget-me-not: Unsurprisingly used in magicks concerning love, friendship, and memory.


Foxglove: Is associated with immortality and communicating with the underworld or the dead. It is also said to protect the home and the garden.


Frankincense: Associated with protection, cleansing, consecration, and purification. Also associated with success and manifestation, as well as self control and humility.
