The Moon In Astrological Signs

The moon travels through the different signs, usually every two days. Depending on the sign the moon is in, it can have an effect on us. Like the moon phases, you can use these associations to enhance your magick if you are working with lunar energies. You will notice that some of the terms are associated with negative emotions; these may not just magickally appear in you, but may be heightened if you are prone to them. Remember that everyone is different. It is a good idea to keep a journal so you can see how the moons transition does affect you personally.

Moon in Aries:

Waxing: Initiate projects, energy
Full: Impulsive, temperamental
Waning: Fussy, selfish

Generally people are enthusiastic, ambitious and energetic during this time, wanting to start new projects (and generally ones which yield quick results). Watch for impulsive action or conflicts; balance energy with judgement and be mindful of others.

Moon in Taurus:

Waxing: Security, artistic pursuits, romance
Full: Intense emotions, stubbornness
Waning: Financial worries, a need to relax

The aggressive energy of Aries becomes more mellow. People prefer caution to impulse. Watch out for stubbornness and a resistance to change. The need for financial and material security is strong during this phase.

Moon in Gemini:

Waxing: Ideation, adaptable, energy
Full: Talkative, social, nervous
Waning: Indecision, manic behaviour

People tend to see both sides of the story during this period, but this can make decision making difficult. Communications are good, so activities involving coming up with ideas, problem solving, etc, bode well. Mental energy is the focus here, watch out for words that may be hastily expressed.

Moon in Cancer:

Waxing: Creativity, nurturing, home activities
Full: Psychic, sensitivity, moodiness
Waning: Financial concerns, nagging

This is a time of heightened emotions, and we can be vulnerable throughout this period, so you need to look after yourself and be mindful of others feelings. People are generally easy going and more nurturing during this period. We feel a need for peace.

Moon in Leo:

Waxing: Creativity, art, socialising, romance, optimism
Full: Drama, passion, aggression
Waning: Selfish, self-absorbed

This is a time for affection, attention and recognition. Limitations can be ignored, and leadership can be a focus. This is a perfect time to give and receive kindness. It encourages us to get in touch with our inner child.

Moon in Virgo:

Waxing: Writing, handicrafts, healing, planning
Full: Worry, nerves, communication
Waning: Procrastination, loss of concentration

This is a period which bodes well for intellectual pursuits and attention to detail.  People can become shy and withdrawn during this phase, and can become more discriminating and critical.

Meaning in Libra:

Waxing: Beauty, Music, Art
Full: Romance, parties
Waning: Emotional imbalance, indecision

There is a sensitivity around this period, and attraction towards others (even platonic). Harmony and balance are sought, so this is a good time for social interactions and artistic endeavors.

Moon in Scorpio:

Waxing: Sesuality, concentration, will-power
Full: Psychic, intensity, anger
Waning: Over sensitivity, paranoia

Strong passions and desires are felt, with an increased emotional intensity. People can get offended during this point. Beware of jealousy and stay away from situations you kno will be confrontational. Also be aware of interactions with the opposite sex. This is a great time for research and investigation however, and looking at our own psychology

Moon in Sagittarius:

Waxing: Travel, adventure, fun, gambling
Full: Higher learning, extravagance
Waning: Laziness, over-indulgence

People are more likely to be idealistic. There is a desire for adventure and the outdoors. Whilst people are friendly and optimism is high, there is a need for independence during this time. This is a great time for self-improvement and learning.

Moon in Capricorn:

Waxing: Hard work, productivity, focus
Full: Achievement, recognition, obsession
Waning: Stinginess, unemotional

Work and duty are the focus, with a drive towards status and financial security. People can be insensitive during this time, keep your head down and stay in the present. This can be a sobering period, where we are careful not to waste time or resources.

Moon in Aquarius:

Waxing: Energy, nervousness
Full: Psychic, social
Waning: Scattered, unfocused

Interest in social welfare, and although people are friendly, they are also impersonal. There is a desire for freedom. This is a period where the intellect is more effective than emotion and a good time for innovative ideas, and getting involved in group activities.

Moon in Pisces:

Waxing: Sensitive, spiritual, healing
Full: Intense emotions, addiction
Waning: Laziness, undisciplined

Intuition and imagination is strong, and whilst people are kind and gentle, they can be easily discouraged. A good time for spiritual pursuits and a drive toward self-sacrifice. We don’t particularly want to be in the ‘real world’, and can be very dreamy.
